Oxycodone is a potent opioid pain reliever medication that is also known as a narcotic. It belongs to a class of drugs known as opioid analgesics and works on the brain to change how the body feels and responds to pain. The medication can manage pain severe enough to require daily around-the-clock, long-term treatment. It is a powerful opiate medication that treats post-surgical pain or chronic pain, such as bursitis, neuralgia, arthritis, and cancer.

Some side effects to watch out for a while taking the medication include:

  • Drowsiness
  • Headache
  • Dizziness
  • Tiredness
  • Constipation
  • Stomach Pain
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Slow heart rate
  • Confusion
  • Seizure
  • Light-headed feeling

There is a high risk of addiction and dependence when misusing the medication. Additionally, oxycontin can cause respiratory distress and even death when taken in high doses or if combined with other substances, especially alcohol.

Opioid medicine should never be shared with another person, especially with someone with a history of drug abuse or addiction. Selling or giving away the antibiotic is against the law.

A physician must prescribe the medication and should be taken as prescribed. At your next doctor visit, find out if Oxycodone can help alleviate your pain!
